With an exciting agenda of presentations by EcoCloud researchers throughout the day, headed by a Keynote Speech by Paolo Faraboschi, Distinguished Technologist at HP Labs, and industry perspectives given by key executives from Credit Suisse, Intel and Oracle, the event will serve to highlight EcoCloud’s emphasis on industry collaboration and technology transfer.
An inter-disciplinary consortium collaborating on innovating core technologies to bridge the gap between applications of massive data and their demand on IT resources, and the diminishing energy efficiency from conventional semiconductor fabrication technologies, EcoCloud aims to address major national and global IT challenges.
The event provides the Center with an opportunity to present not only its research, but also its Industrial Affiliates Program, which promotes and commercializes research among the consortium. "We aim to deliver the innovation and timely outputs that are crucial to ICT sector companies. Indeed, our success synergistically builds on strong support for, and a growing appreciation by, private industry," says Professor Babak Falsafi, EcoCloud’s Director and Professor in the School of Computer and Communication Sciences.
"We are building long-term partnerships founded on research collaborations, PhD programs, University-Industry partnered research grants, internships, visiting scholar programs, fellowships, executive education and more. However, our immediate focus is on expanding our relationships, and attracting additional partners to this endeavor," explains Professor Falsafi.
EcoCloud’s targeted research enables laboratories to work together towards a common goal, thereby propelling collaboration and the potential for trans-disciplinary innovation. In so doing, it echoes and reinforces the core ethos of EPFL itself.
